Lee Myung-Sun
Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine service as auriculotherapy educated volunteers and its impact on the health and well-being of middle-aged women.

Method: Our study included 12 women (ages 40s?60s) who volunteered to be trained to participate in the program; this included both introductory and intermediate classes in auriculotherapy that took place once a week, for more than 24 weeks. in the time interval between June 2016 and June 2018. We performed qualitative analysis (Giorgi method) of the results of a survey of the participants during the period from November 2018 to May 2019.

Results: The results of our survey indicate that by participating in this volunteer work, women in our study became more aware of mental and physical changes that take place in middle age. By using volunteer work as a means to promote communication and to exchange ideas in social relationships, the participants felt a sense satisfaction happiness and improved quality of life.

Conclusion: The experience of serving as a volunteer for this program had an overall strong positive effect on reported quality of life as reported by the participants. Among the benefits, the participants reported increased confidence as a result of personal recognition and the ability to form extended social relationships. The use of volunteer programs as a means to promote quality of life among seniors is very important. There are many ways in which older individuals can participate in volunteer service and improve their overall quality of life.
